Conroe ISD is not the only school district that seems to be violating the 2019 school safety law. While the state has shirked its responsibilities to enforce the law, some Texas lawmakers want to abandon the research-based practice of expelling students at “a single incident” of behavior that “interferes with the teacher’s ability to communicate effectively with students.” Ultimately, it’s kids who will pay the price.
